Terry Phelan graduated from Michigan State University and earned her MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills.  She has published numerous feature articles and essays in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Pacific Sun.  Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and most recently appeared in RATTLE, Runes, Marin Poetry Center Anthology, Mudfish (volumes 13 and 15), pms (poemmemoirstory), Red Rock Review and the anthology Not What I Expected: the Unpredictable Road from Womanhood to Motherhood.  Her first book of poetry, Husk, was published in November 2007 by Box Turtle Press (New York), which also published her second collection, Fires in Sonoma in 2013.  Terry is former Chair of the Marin Poetry Center and currently serves on the Steering Committee for the Marin Poet Laureate. In her spare time she also works as editor, most recently completing work on a book-length manuscript authored by local poet Margaret Stawowy.
